What happens if I paid contributions to the German Pension Insurance for more then 5 years?
In many forums and claimed specialized websites around pension refund you find the statement: "After 60 months (5 years) contributing to the German Pension Insurance, you cannot get a refund".
This general statement is wrong. There are many nationalities which are excluded from this rule.
What is true is that if you are a citizen of a EU member state or a citizen of the countries that have signed social security agreements with Germany you are not eligible for earlier refund if you have paid contributions for 5 years or more.
